Since 911 happened in 2001 our government has made it difficult to use a public restroom, they monitor the internet heavily and impose on our freedoms like never before. The restroom idea albeit a joke is not to take away how we are monitored even when we least expect it.

Anna Chapman femme fatale

U.S. federal prosecutors say Anna Chapman a 28 year old Russian was secretly working as a spy in the U.S., and transmitting information via her laptop back to Russia, and involved in a money laundering scam. It is alleged that she worked with co-conspirators but got tripped up by passing a fake passport, and scheduled to make her first court appearance on July 27th.

This story has all the makings of a Hollywood script, a sexy redhead bombshell who easily could have been in one of those James Bond films. Chapman did not try to stay out of the limelight though as she ventured in to the world of online gambling, which makes the money laundering idea make sense, and got in the social networking society with her own facebook page with well over 90 photos for people to look at. Her attempt at online poker was tied to a Russian capital investment firm and was in cahoots with one of her facebook friends Alexander Sasha Galitsky.

Mr. Galitsky confirmed through an email to Fox News that Chapman was interested in an online real estate business and attempting to raise capital for that. Mr. Galitsky also said that the online poker was a part of that package, and is currently wanted for questioning by authorities but yet to be found.

Anna Chapman very easily could have pulled one over on us, she has a Masters degree from the Peoples Friendship University of Russia, beauty, and the networking skills it takes to be a spy in the U.S., if not for one false move she could have sent secrets back to Russia and poured dirty money right in to our economy.

It’s people like Anna Chapman that make you wonder, who else is in this country is spying on us? If all it takes is a pretty face and the right connections, just how good is our security and is the online gambling world such as poker a source of money for laundering back to other foreign nations? It’s not a stretch to think that this has massive implications on our world we live in, just because Anna Chapman got caught doesn’t mean she is the only one. The fact that Anna was involved in social networking should send huge red flags to authorities, yet we only have two names. There are questions left unanswered, such as who else was she working with, and why have we not caught up with them? How about the people that play online poker, and other types of betting done online, again not a stretch to think that the number of people involved goes in many directions not discovered.

How do we police this type of problem and how can our homeland security detect these types of things? It’s quite obvious that cyber crime and spying go hand in hand, and with Anna Chapman it’s not even a glimpse of things to come. The Anna Chapman story is just the beginning, and the government will have it’s hands full as they move forward and investigate her and other threats to the U.S. First things first will prosecutors be willing to cut a deal with Anna Chapman in order to possibly get other names? Let’s not forget about Alexander Sasha Galitsky, once he is found we may get more information and between he and Chapman just maybe we can tie the connection with online gambling and how it funds the wrong people. Anna Chapman is currently being held without bond in New York, where she lived in a Manhattan high rise.
